GNDR is seeking a consultant to support GNDR and its members to develop in-depth knowledge on localising climate projections. This should be achieved by developing tools or resources that will equip local actors with the necessary knowledge that can help build their resilience in the face of the resurgence of climate-related events, significantly to strengthen their capacity in or facilitate access to climate data for local communities.
This challenge to be addressed is that communities face problems of access to and understanding of real and specific information. While the technical meteorological services are committed to producing climate information, they generally make it inaccessible in a language to communities which are mostly illiterate.
GNDR seeks consultancy support to therefore deliver the following:
- Develop, test and produce tools and resources to strengthen civil society organisation capacity in localising climate projections
- Ensure any tools or resources created can be used and accessible for communities most at risk of climate change
- Consult with GNDR members and partners on localising climate projections, what the challenges are and ideas to address these challenges in order to facilitate their contribution to the final piece of work
- Review existing documentation to ensure ‘value-added’ is brought to the piece of work
- Develop training resource on the final resources/tools developed to ensure civil society organisations are able to use them
- Complete a final report on the work achieved
All applicants must:
- Candidates must be educated to Degree level and have a background and understanding of Climate change issues,
- Demonstrate previous experience in localising climate projections, especially in working with or supporting communities in the global south and with a mix of INGOs and local partners
- Have prior experience in training adults, or developing resources and tools for community organisation to access and use
- Be fluent in English (working knowledge of French desired)
This assignment will be home-based. The assignment is for approximately 30 days, concluding no later than Friday 1 April 2021.
How to apply:
If you meet the applicant criteria, please submit an expression of interest detailing:
- A cover letter detailing how your experience matches the consultant profile;
- A one-page methodology of how you would undertake the assignment and what resources/tools you would seek to develop;
- A projected total cost for the assignment;
- Your CV (no more than 2 pages);
For more information or to submit an expression of interest, please contact Elise Belcher, Project Coordinator, at GNDR: elise.belcher@gndr.org by Midnight Sunday 9th January 2022.
