Annual Review Consultant -Local Leadership for Global Impact

GNDR is seeking a consultant to facilitate the ‘Local Leadership for Global Impact’ annual review. This is an interesting and exciting opportunity for a consultant who is experienced in Outcome Harvesting and participatory monitoring tools. It will support staff to mark significant achievements in 2021, especially in the context of Covid-19, and set them on a successful path for 2022.

GNDR is a network of 1600 organisations across 127 countries striving to build resilience of disaster-prone communities. The Local Leadership for Global Impact project has ambitiously set up connections with members in over 50 countries to achieve risk-informed development, develop localised climate projections and community-led contingency plans. It seeks to strengthen capacity, implement local action and influence changes at a variety of policy levels.

The purpose of the annual review is to support staff and project partners objectively reflect on their work, learn from it and consider appropriate changes moving forward. It aims to assess the impact of the initial actions taken within the first year of project implementation.

Deliverable 1: Initial report on the evidence already collected, and plan for facilitated online workshops

Deliverable 2: Facilitation of online workshops - dates to be confirmed, but w/c January 24 or January 31 preferred.

Deliverable 3: Report of progress made in 2021 towards key project goals, with recommendations for programme changes and/or improved monitoring, evaluation and impact in 2022.

All applicants must have:

  • Technical expertise on qualitative and quantitative research methodologies

  • Substantial experience of conducting evaluations of bilateral programmes

  • Knowledge and experience of the DRR sector

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills, both written and spoken, in English with additional language skills in French and/or Portuguese being desirable

The review is desk-based and expected to take approximately 5-7 days, between 21 January and 20 February. There is also a possibility of completing the work for future annual reviews in November 2022 and November 2023.
